Engineering Expo

This Friday November 4th is Engineering Expo!
All parents, relatives, friends, EVERYONE is invited to see the science projects the kids have been working on involving circuits and creating an alarm! Join us between 12:30 and 1:00 for our presentation time!

Next week in math, we are continuing to work on division. The kids are doing so well understanding the partial quotients method. Have them show and explain to you how it's done! It is always good to continue working on those multiplication facts, as well. :)

Our schedule for Friday will be different because of Engineering Expo.
Here is the revised schedule for Friday November 4th:

7:55-8:45 Specials
11:05-11:35 Recess
11:35-12:05 Lunch
12:30-1:00 Present to 5th grade
1:00-1:30 Debrief, discuss expectations and questions to ask
1:30-2:00 Go watch 5th grade presentations

Assembly Friday and so Fourth

WE WON THE SPIRIT STICK AT THE ASSEMBLY!

I am so proud of the kids and how much they practiced and how well they learned our song!

This week was fun with so much multiplication! We worked on 4-digit by 1-digit, 2-digit by 1-digit, and 3-digit by 1-digit multiplication. We even took our multiplication test! WOOHOO!

Next week in math we will be starting division! We won't start long division quite yet, but here is a video a student of mine made a few years ago teaching long division:

Science, has been so fun, continuing to build circuits. This will be part of our Engineering Expo that will take place on November 4th. We hope you can make it out!

Continuing to work on the circuits and discussing electromagnetism will be what next week is all about.

This Week

VERY IMPORTANT:
Tuesday is our Hollifield Outdoor Learning Center field trip.
Please remember:
-Wear closed toed shoes
-Wear long pants
-Bring a sack lunch

This week in math we will be continuing to learn all about multiplication! We are learning all different ways to solve our multiplication problems!

Science is all about building circuits and alarms. The kids are LOVING the hands on activities and tinkering with the wires to make a light bulb light. We will first look into conductors and insulators and figure out what different types of materials are conductors and what are insulators.

Long Weekend

REMINDER: We do not have school on Monday! There are Parent Teacher conferences scheduled, so make sure you know your time and are scheduled with me :)

In other news, here is a message from our PE/Fitness teachers:

Hello Christie Parents,

This year PE/Fitness is wanting to incorporate a drumming fitness activity into our workout. However, we want to make sure our students have the materials they need to succeed, so I just created a DonorsChoose.org classroom request.   Please click on the Fit to the Beat link below to donate.

When you give to our classroom by October 6, 2016, your donation will be doubled thanks to DonorsChoose.org. Just enter the code LIFTOFF during checkout and you'll be matched dollar for dollar (up to $50).

Thank you so much,
PE/Fitness Team

P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help all our students, please pass this along!
