And Here's February!

It feels like just yesterday I was introducing myself to all of my new kiddos and now the school year is only a blink away! 😝

Next week we will be wrapping up fractions and taking our fraction test on Friday! Things you could review with your child for the test are:
-Simplifying Fractions
-Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators
-Adding and Subtracting mixed numbers
-Comparing fractions
-Finding the sum of the unit fractions
-Decomposing fractions
-Improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa
-Fractions on a number line

In Science, we will be checking up on our plants that we planted in clay, loam, and sand. We will also start looking at renewable and nonrenewable resources! There are so many articles, activities, and videos you could watch and read about with your child at home- just go to www.plano.discoveryeducation.com and have them login. The opportunities are endless!

A few dates to note that are coming up:
-2/7 Shakespeare performance for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
-2/17 Friendship Parties
-2-/20 School Holiday
-2/27 Book Fair Week

Spring Semester in Full Swing!

January is almost over and we are full force looking forward to many things!

The math lives of fourth graders has been filled with fractions, fractions, fractions! We have worked on equivalent fractions, fractions in simplest form, comparing fractions, decomposing fractions, and putting them on number lines. Next week, we will dive head first into adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers.

Science has been so fun learning all about the Earth's surface. Transitioning from weathering, erosion, and deposition into SOIL! The students are loving testing the soil samples to figure out what kind of soil they have found!

A few dates to note that are coming up:
-2/7 Shakespeare performance for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
-2/17 Friendship Parties
-2-/20 School Holiday
-2/27 Book Fair Week

Welcome Back!

I am so excited to be back at school! It was so lovely hearing all about the students' winter break shenanigans!

Next week is college week!!! Check your child's binder for a bright yellow paper to see the theme for every day!

In math we are learning all about fractions. The  students are loving it and it is one of my favorite things to teach!

In science, we will finally get to dive into changes to the earth's surface- weathering, erosion, and deposition. This week we finished up our math MAP test.

See you Monday!
